What a week
Jun. 16th, 2017 09:33 pmThis week, I went on a group outing with my team of technical writers. We volunteered at a food bank, which was pretty fun, where we packed bags of frozen pasta with green beans and carrots into boxes for shipment. There were some people from Farmer's Insurance and some fourth graders there; together we packed over 4,000 pounds of food. It was pretty fun, and I got to try all the different parts of the packing process.
Afterwards we went to a place called Pizza Schmizza, where we waited forever for our pizzas. All in all, it was pretty nice and I learned some interesting new things about my coworkers, one of whom (D) had done all kinds of interesting jobs -- like juggling fire at a circus, or learning to restore old cars.
I feel that I'm finally getting the hang of the new project I was assigned, so that I'm not going into the office dreading every single day. This is a recent development, and I'm thankful, honestly, because dreading every day is no way to live.
I finished Genkaku Picasso, as well as Manga in Theory and Practice, both of which emphasized the importance of practicing many drawings, as well as the skeleton, muscles, and human body. While I've drawn the human body before, the skeleton and muscles aren't something that I've spent a lot of time drawing. It turns out that skeletons, at least, are both hard and easy. They're easier than I thought it would be, since I was always under the impression there were many bones in hard to understand configurations. But they're also a bit more boring than models.

Here are some roses that I spotted on my walk! I didn't walk much today; I was cold all day for some reason.

Also some white flowers. It rained a lot this week -- so hard that it knocked over an entire one of my young rose plants :(. There's a few leaves left, so it may recover, but it's just a real shame.
